This is one of a series of fine Architectural models made by world-renowned artist, Timothy Richards. These models are made with plaster and other traditional contstruction materials including lead, acid-etched brass, glass, copper and gold leaf. Each model is individually hand-made in Timothy's studio and workshop in Bath in England.
The first post-box was installed in the Channel Islands in 1852 following the recommendation of Anthony Trollope, the famous English novelist, who was working as a Surveyor's Clerk for the Post Office. Since then 365 design variations have been produced. In 1853 the first pillar box on the British mainland was erected at Botchergate in Carlisle, a City in North West of England.
It wasn't until 1859 that the UK saw the introduction of the first National Standard Box.
